Bonn. All product specifications in building services, written according to the standard VDI 3805, will be progressively retrievable also online from the website www.shk-branchenportal.de. This is a result of cooperation between the German central heating association (VdZ) from Bonn and the ARGE Neue Medien from Padeborn. The collaboration was announced during the trade fair SHK in Essen.
A free-download-assistant on the industry portal will provide the users with the up-to-date VDI 3805 data. Additionally, the technical product information will be transferred via “SHK-Connect” directly into the systems of building professionals. In this way will be architects, building engineers and installers for the first time able to online access to the VdZ proved manufacturer data. The product specifications, written in accordance with the VDI 3805, facilitate technical, graphical and management planning processes. Product variants and accessories can be quickly selected and 3D-diagrams of complex technical systems can be easily designed. Furthermore, building equipment can be correctly ordered and inventory data can be securely administrated.
For more than eight years already coordinates the VdZ the implementation of the standard VDI 3805 in order to enable cost-effective use of technical, graphical and geometrical data of most diverse products (independently from manufactures and software companies) for the planning processes in the building services sector. Mr. Horst Eisenbeis, the chief executive of the VdZ stated: “The cooperation with the ARGE Neue Medien has confirmed the successful work of the VdZ and has enabled us to provide the complete building services sector with the VDI 3805 service also online.” To Mr Frank Kny, the chief executive of the ARGE Neue Medien, represents the cooperation another important step towards the optimisation of the business processes in the building services sector: “The high-quality and from the VdZ proved VDI 3805 data expand the service of our portal for one very interesting component that is crucial for saving time and money when working with the product specifications. The whole building services sector profits of it.”

About VDI 3805
The standard VDI 3805 describes an open EDP data format for product catalogue data of manufactures of building services equipment to be used in software applications for layout, calculation, CAD, design, planning and management. It includes information on main product groups, properties, accessories, but also technical data such as performance characteristics, layout data, characteristic curves and functions. With each product come also geometrical, connection and CAD-design data. All manufacturer data are proved and certified by the VdZ, which enables correct and on software based work with the data. Both, manufactures and end-users can thus avoid redundant work and unnecessary costs.
