Windows, Doors, Curtain Walls

In the past windows influenced only 20-30% the energy demand of buildings but in low energy buildings windows have already an influence of more than 50% to the energy needs. With the upcoming net zero energy buildings the influence will raise above 80%.

The impact of Windows on the energy performance of buildings is increased with the reduction of the energy demand. In the past windows influenced only 20-30% the energy demand of buildings but in low energy buildings windows have already an influence of more than 50% to the energy needs. With the upcoming net zero energy buildings the influence will raise above 80%.

The aim of this Community is to collect information related to fenestration industry. The main target is to improve the products which are applied within Europe on buildings and give guidelined optimising the thermal performance by using Fenestration products.

We welcome related:

  • Scientific, Laboratory, Industrial Studies,
  • Exchange ideas,
  • Solutions,
  • Products,
  • Guidelines for industry,
  • Proposals for fabricators and installers,
  • Guidelines for building owners

Window Community is aiming to promote energy efficient solutions on Doors, Windows and Curtain Walls.

The intention is to promote best practice examples and to exchange material on that field.

Engineers, Institutes, Authorities, Notified Bodies can upload material which will provide added value to the society and exchange ideas.

By this community European Fenestration Industry should define that the best window is the one in which different components are appropriately chosen based on the building that the final product will be applied (framing material, glazing, shading, automations, Photovoltaics etc).

At the moment several relevant studies which have taken place are still not on Build Up, as a result feel free to join Window Community and participate actively!
