By the end of 2015, a series of free postgraduate level training courses in Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) will begin around Europe.
These ‘Professional Energy Skills in NZEB’ courses aim to empower building professionals through the development of skills in energy efficiency and integration of renewables in the retrofit of existing housing stock.
The program is for EU engineers, architects and building manager professionals who are interested in energy efficiency applied to buildings.

The final event of the EU-financed SmartReFlex project will take place from 24 to 25 November 2016, in Kolding, Denmark, presenting and discussing the key findings and experiences on increasing the diffusion of smart and flexible district heating and cooling (DHC) systems in European cities, based on high shares of renewable energy sources (RES). The event focuses on further steps towards implementation, including financial support, as well as replication to other regions.

District heating based on local renewable energy sources is becoming more and more an appealing solution for small communities in search of energy independence and of a stable price for their thermal energy supply. Such solutions often foresee a strong and direct involvement of the customers who could even own, at the same time, their heating grid by constituting a cooperative company to run the business.

Efficient buildings are essential for an affordable Danish energy supply in 2050. The purpose of this report is to describe the contribution and role of the building sector in a 100% renewable energy future, as well as the transitions that are necessary in the building sector to support this change. The report builds on a literature review encompassing more than 50 reports and research papers over the last 10 years and more than a two decades knowledge about the interactions between different components of the energy sector.
