The EU-funded, Horizon 2020 project STUNNING, which promotes knowledge exchange and interaction in the field of energy-efficient building renovation, is conducting a survey on barriers for energy refurbishments to seek out answers and recommendations for the stagnant renovation rate in Europe. Based on the survey’s evaluation, STUNNING will provide insights on the processes that need to take place for the alleviation of the most common obstacles and market failures.

The EU-funded ABRACADABRA project has developed 3 decision support tools for this purpose which you can test for free. Case study buildings should either have planned energy renovations or have already undergone renovations. Tools and analytical methods developed by the project team will be applied to each case study building, providing valuable technical, financial and regulatory outcomes to aid the decision-making process.

People are increasingly testing smart control systems to curb energy use, while maximising the amount of renewables employed in the process   When temperatures are low, the temptation to take long, scalding showers and turn electric heaters to the maximum is high. And not knowing how much energy we spend, when we unthinkingly do these activities, makes it difficult for us to decrease our consumption.

The results of the USmartConsumer project on smart metering are presented in this final report. USmartConsumer project’s goal is to promote the use of smart meters throughout the European households by informing and involving the consumers on the innovative smart metering services. Smart metering services help the consumers to achieve energy savings and consequently assist the Member States in reducing peak energy loads.

Local production of energy plays an important role. The energy production and consumption data in Central Finland shows that half of the energy consumed in the region is renewable. Altogether, renewable energy corresponds to 50% of total energy consumption in 2016. Renewable energy consumption has increased significantly by 19% from the year 2004.
