The European Commission is referring Hungary to the Court for failing to transpose the Energy Efficiency Directive. Under this directive EU Member States must meet certain energy savings targets from 1 January 2014 until 31 December 2020. They have to do this by using energy efficiency obligations schemes or other targeted policy measures to drive energy efficiency improvements in households, buildings, industry and transport sectors. Member States had to transpose the obligations of the Directive by 5 June 2014.Other requirements include:

Article 2 of the EPBD recast defines a nearly zero-energy building as “a building that has a very high energy performance, as determined in accordance with Annex I [of the Directive]. The nearly zero or very low amount of energy required should be covered to a very significant extent by energy from renewable sources, including energy from renewable sources produced on-site or nearby”.

REMOURBAN Press release no. 1 – Valladolid, 29 January 2015.   The Kick off meeting for REMOURBAN, a far-reaching European project to create a sustainable urban regeneration model combining the latest developments in energy, mobility and ICT will take place the 17th of February. From 17 to 19 February, Valladolid-based Fundación CARTIF will be hosting the REMOURBAN project kick off meeting.  This project has been selected under the EU’s Lighthouse project scheme whose guiding principles are impact and replicability.
