New standardization projects relevant to ventilative cooling applications have officially been initiated under Technical Committees (TC) in the European Committee for Standardization (CEN/TC 156) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO/TC 205) since 2017. These projects aim to make technical documents focusing on design aspects and setting criteria for ventilative cooling, and natural & hybrid ventilation systems in residential and non-residential buildings.

The eleventh issue of the venticool newsletter includes two articles providing feedback on the ventilative cooling workshop in Brussels followed by the final IEA-EBC Annex 62 expert meeting in Gent in October, 2017.

The preliminary programme for the workshop “Ventilative cooling in buildings: now & in the future” to be held on Monday October 23, 2017 at the Belgian Building Research Institute (BBRI) in Brussels, Belgium is now available.
The event will discuss the outcomes of IEA-EBC Annex 62 “ventilative cooling” as well as future challenges and possibilities for international collaboration.

2013 marked the start of IEA EBC Annex 62 and thus a four-year period with great developments in the field of ventilative cooling. This year, the annex is coming to a closure and finds its participants working hard to deliver the project’s final outcomes.

During the past few months, venticool has pursued its efforts to raise awareness, exchange information and discuss issues on ventilative cooling, namely in collaboration with IEA EBC Annex 62 and QUALICHeCK.

With the increasing weight of energy performance regulations on market uptake in the building sector, bridging the gap between scientific and regulatory approaches on ventilative cooling is crucial. As you will learn through this newsletter, venticool works on several initiatives to build this bridge. In particular, with its foreseen plenary presentations and topical sessions, as well as the abstracts collected throughout the call, the programme of the 35th AIVC and 2nd venticool conference to be held in Poznan, Poland 24-25 September 2014 already sounds very promising.
