Urban heat island and global warming increase significantly the ambient temperature. Higher temperatures have a serious impact on the electricity consumption of the building sector increasing considerably the peak and the total electricity demand. The present paper aims to collect, analyse and present in a comparative way existing studies investigating the impact of ambient temperature increase on electricity consumption.

The Industrial Engineering School of Béjar is described showing the very first diagnosed problems which were related to overheating during the hottest months of the year - heating installation and cooling system. Particularly, manual (inexistent) control strategy which results in a lack of energy efficiency and users discomfort and the lighting installation which was incorrectly distributed in some rooms. Moreover, the monitoring system used and the goals for measuring the thermal consumption and indoor comfort are explained as well as the possible actions.
