Training and education

This yearly publication presents the progress of a portfolio of 174 European research projects aiming at developing new technologies for energy efficient buildings. 110 projects have been co-funded within the EeB PPP under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) from 2010 to 2013 and 64 projects under the Horizon 2020 Programme (H2020) between 2014 and 2018.

Recently, WorldGBC Europe responded to a consultation from the technical expert group on sustainable finance (TEG) on the development of the 'taxonomy' - an EU-wide classification system for environmentally sustainable economic activities. This report analyses the definition of a Zero Carbon building in the UK and compares national Building Regulations in Zero Carbon building with a Passivhaus Classic and renewables. The report highlights problems such as the performance gap, seasonal energy storage, and limits to deploying renewable energy. It sproposes Passivhaus as a feasible way to achieve Zero Carbon without massive renewable energy expansion coupled with a significant investment in grid capacity.
