20 October 2017 in Groningen, The Netherlands
The housing building sector in the EU Member States, accounting for 200 million units and representing around 27% of the energy consumption in the EU, is confronted by a huge challenge to dramatically reduce CO₂ emissions and to become energy neutral in 2050.
At the same time there are regions in the EU that are confronted by a second and even bigger challenge: to make the housing stock seismic resistant. Although this is a serious topic with huge impact for the inhabitants, it also poses an opportunity for lowering the buildings' energy footprint.
This symposium, which will take place in the context of the ProGETonE project, aims to raise awareness among all stakeholders for the opportunities in Groningen and The Netherlands, by sharing knowledge and building on new networks and relations, not only for the current Dutch task, but also for future European opportunities.
