On 27 October 2016, the winners of the European Business Awards for the Environment 2016-17 were announced at a ceremony in Tallinn, Estonia. The awards recognise companies in the EU and candidate countries, from all sectors that combine competitiveness with respect for the environment in the following categories: management, product and services, process innovation, business and biodiversity, and international business cooperation.

Following the successful participation of two Belgian candidates (Dupuis Publishers and TPALM, both medalist) in its 2nd edition, the CUBE 2020 contest for a better use in efficient buildings moves forward: the 3rd edition will start on January, 1st 2017 with a new year of competition between commercial buildings (candidates from any European country can apply).

15 Climate Stars given to cities and regions in 7 countries   On 6 October 2016, in Lower Austria’s Grafenegg Castle, 15 municipalities, regions and associations of local authorities from seven European countries were awarded with a Climate Star for their outstanding climate action initiatives. The local projects cover a wide range of topics, from energy and mobility to food systems and sustainable procurement up to climate justice and climate change adaptation.

On 9 September 2016, Thermaflex North West Europe, a company which develops and manufactures insulation and pre-insulated piping solutions for thermal energy distribution, was recognised for creating the most positive environmental impact by the international non-profit organisation, B Lab, on the annual ‘Best for the World’ nomination.

British Columbia, California, Florida and Regina Teams Top Winners in ASHRAE Student Design Competitions     ATLANTA, 31 August 2016 – Students from eight countries put their engineering skills to the test to design and select systems for a government building in China, as well as for a competition requiring them to “think globally, act locally.” Both competitions are held by ASHRAE.
