In the framework of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), biomass burning for heat production in households has emerged as a major issue where a better balance between “decarbonisation” benefits and negative impacts on air quality, the environment and human health is needed.

“We will co-finance the procurement and installation of biomass boilers and heat pumps by individuals with HRK 12 million. Depending on the location of the house, it is possible to get co-financing of between 40% and 80% of the project value, but not more than HRK 35,000 including VAT, to install a biomass system or up to HRK 45,000 for heat pump systems,” FZOEU Director Dubravko Ponoš said.

The CoolHeating project goal is to support the development of the market for small modular renewable heating and cooling systems in cities and municipalities of South-East Europe (SEE). This goal will be achieved through the transfer of knowledge and joint activities of partners from countries with good practice examples (Austria, Denmark, and Germany) and countries with modest development in this sector (Croatia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia).

The Save the Planet exhibition showcases local and foreign companies, who offer products and solutions for waste collection, treatment and utilization. A conference on the same topics will take place parallel to the exhibition. The event is open to representatives of municipalities and government administration, ecologists, investors, managers of companies from the sectors recycling, waste management, agriculture, food and packaging, etc.

Training courses for installers of small-scale renewable energy systems in buildings
The objective of the IEE Install+RES project was to establish training courses for the qualification of trainers and the certification of installers of renewable energy systems (biomass, solar, PV and heat pumps) in buildings. The target groups were installers (with working experience as plumbers, roofers or electricians) and trainers (as teachers, engineers and professors).

The Young Energy Researchers Conference is part of the World Sustainable Energy Days (WSED). Linked to the main topics of the WSED18, the conference has 2 tracks, one for biomass and one for energy efficiency.
The 2 best contributions are honoured with the awards "Best Young Energy Researcher: Energy Efficiency" and "Best Young Energy Researcher: Biomass". The researchers receive 1,000 Euro each as prize money.
