EU Sustainable Energy Week 2017 offers a platform to not only engage in the energy transition debate and share best practices between stakeholders, but also to take part in an interactive Networking Village where old alliances are rekindled and new ones formed. This article provides an overview of the activities that BUILD UP, its Partners and other building related organisations will be leading in the framework of EUSEW 2017.

Across Europe, cities work together to develop and demonstrate innovative solutions that help accelerate transition towards a low-carbon, resource efficient, competitive and inclusive economy in urban areas. The Smart Cities Information System (SCIS) is in charge of collecting and analysing data from these solutions, so we are asking cities to share their stories and experiences.

The challenge to develop smart cities is not only a technological challenge but also a regulatory, financial and social one. In fact, some non-technical issues may be more challenging to resolve than the technological barriers and the success of a project can depend on this.

Eight projects involving 27 districts belonging to 25 cities from 13 different countries have joined forces for greater leverage in sharing contents and promoting energy efficient renovation for cities and communities leading to large-scale replicability of sound energy efficiency solutions.

CITY-ZEN, a EU FP7 project running from 01-03- 2014 to 28-02-2019, aims to develop and demonstrate energy efficient cities, and to build a methodology and tools for cities, industries and citizens to reach the 20-20-20 targets.

The EU Sustainable Energy Week 2016 (EUSEW 2016), Europe’s largest event on sustainable energy policy, is around the corner. Part of EUSEW’s activities is its conference on policy, which takes place from Tuesday 14 to Thursday 16 June.

My Smart City District (MSCD) is a group of like-minded European Smart Cities projects representing 8 projects, 25 cities across 13 countries. Together, they are putting on a series of short online seminars – the Lunch Academy – set to take place 11:30-12:15 CET every day of the European Sustainable Energy Week 13-17 June.
