People spending 60-90% of their life in indoor environments (homes, offices, schools, etc.), indoor air quality is essential in ensuring health, quality of life and performance of buildings’ occupants.

The impact of building renovation on health, well-being and productivity could improve the lives of more than 200 million Europeans. This set of publications, developed by BPIE and commissioned by Buildings 2030, takes an important step towards defining, measuring, quantifying and monetising the impact of indoor environmental quality in schools, hospitals and offices. The findings reveal a major business opportunity to invest in people-centric renovation of existing buildings.

A good Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) encompassing air quality, thermal comfort, lighting and acoustics, is a cornerstone to ensure health, comfort, wellbeing and productivity of the building occupants, who spend around 90% of their time indoor. Building occupants can thus provide important feedback on how buildings perform. The way they perceive the indoor environmental conditions can affect their comfort, health, productivity.

ZERO-PLUS project - Development of intelligent models for realtime performance assessment of NZE settlements   The monitoring and evaluation of the settlements’ performance is an essential part of the ZERO-PLUS project. Under the framework of the task “Intelligent models for performance assessment and reliability-centered maintenance” intelligent data processing models have been developed. The models are intended to be incorporated in the Web-GIS platform for performance assessment and increased reliability of the ZERO-PLUS case studies’ implementation.
