Passive House standard

Rubber boots and spades stood ready for a special premiere: In July 2016, construction works began on the world's first Passive House hospital in the Höchst district of Frankfurt. The previous clinic will be replaced by a new Passive House building with ten operating theatres and 666 beds planned over six floors. The Passive House Institute has provided comprehensive support throughout the planning phase and will continue to do so during the building’s construction.

From 11– 13 November 2016, the International Passive House Days, organised by the International Passive House Association (iPHA) and its international Affiliates, will take place for the 13th year in a row. Passive House building owners can share their experiences and show what Passive House is all about by participating with their own Passive House home, office, or even construction site.

EuroPHit: Increasing the European potential   This EU funded brochure by the EuroPHit project draws on the lessons of demonstration projects implementing deep energy retrofits in a step-by step manner across 11 EU Member States. These have been developed to the EnerPHit Standard – the Passive House retrofit Standard.

The Passive House Institute released a new online database which provides a detailed overview of components for Passive House construction.  Over 600 highly energy-efficient products, independently tested and certified with reference to their energy-relevant qualities, can be found together with relevant technical information.

All of the products, which have been independently tested and certified with reference to their energy-relevant qualities, are listed together with relevant technical information; triple-glazed windows and ventilation systems with heat recovery as well as insulation systems and balcony connections etc.
