A radical approach to using natural construction materials at scale
The ISOBIO project proposes an innovative strategy to bring bio-based construction materials into the mainstream.
A key innovation consists of the use of pre-treated bio-based aggregates for construction, which include insulation materials, hygrothermal and moisture buffering materials, binders, sol-gel and resins.

Buildings account for around half of the EU’s total energy consumption. As a result, energy efficiency of buildings is a major theme in the European Commission’s Clean Energy for All Europeans package of proposals and a focus of this year’s EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), which takes place from 21-25 June.
But buildings must be more than just energy efficient of course. As we spend up to 90% of our time indoors, buildings and the environment they create also have a significant impact on our comfort, well-being and even health.

Das neue Forschungsportal der Forschungsinitiative ENERGIEWENDEBAUEN ist seit April 2017 online. Mit der neugestalteten Forschungsinitiative bündelt das Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie (BMWi) seine langjährigen Fördermaßnahmen Energieoptimiertes Bauen (EnOB), Energieeffiziente Stadt (EnEff:Stadt) und Energieeffiziente Wärme- und Kältenetze (EnEff:Wärme) sowie die Forschung zu thermischen Energiespeichern und der Niedertemperatur-Solarthermie und fasst sie unter einem Dach zusammen.

Interreg Europe provides assistance to three types of beneficiaries, based in one the 28 EU Member States, Switzerland or Norway:

Interreg Europe builds on its forerunner, INTERREG IVC (2007-2013) and aims to get maximum return from the EUR 359 million financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for 2014-2020.

The Executive Committee of the International Energy Agency Energy in Buildings and Communities programme (IEA EBC) approved the “IEA-EBC Annex 74: Energy Endeavour” in 2016. The project will run until 2021. The project is intended to serve as a know-how platform linking the experiences worldwide and working towards further improvement of existing competitions, as well as developing new competition formats.
