The German Reconstruction Credit Institute KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) programmes "Energieeffizient Bauen und Sanieren" (Energy Efficient Buildings and Retrofits respectively) which are supported by federal funds, bring about multiple benefits. This is futher validated by the evaluation of the funding year 2013. The evaluation was performed by the Institute for Housing and Environment IWU (Institut Wohnen und Umwelt) and the Fraunhofer Institute (IFAM) and has shown that the supported measures and buildings have saved 2,000 GWh energy and 744,000 tons of greenhouse gases. The energy costs over the whole usage period (30 years) has decreased by 7.4 billion Euro. These investments have ensured or generated new jobs for approximately 420,000 people.
