The Federal Ministry for Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS) has launched a new financial support scheme for exemplary houses that fulfill the so-called "energy surplus standard". In the year 2011, 2.1 million Euros have been foreseen for the scheme. The programme supports builders of houses that generate significantly more energy than necessary for their operation. The surplus energy shall be used especially for e-mobility. The demonstration projects are evaluated in an accompanying research programme. The results shall lead to improved energy management in modern buildings and further development of important components for the energy efficient building envelope and the use of renewable energy. The houses shall cover the energy needs of all building functions like heating, hot water, lighting, household electricity and supply energy to external users like electronic cars or neighbouring buildings. They will be tested and evaluated under real conditions (inhabited).
The energy concepts, the installed technologies and monthly monitoring data of currently 7 different energy surplus houses are presented by the accompanying research team of the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics on the new internet pages of the BMVBS platform Efficiency House Plus
