Building better places

On 11 June 2015, the UK's Select Committee on National Policy for the Built Environment was appointed by the House of Lords to consider the development and implementation of national policy for the built environment. This report is based on feedback from the call for evidence and recommends specific policies that the UK Government should pursue on issues such as housing, environmental resilience, heritage and sustainability.

According to the report: "The Government should reverse its decision to remove the requirement for new homes to generate no net carbon emissions (known as the “zero carbon homes” policy) and its decision to remove the Code for Sustainable Homes. The Government must set out and implement a viable trajectory towards energy efficiency and carbon reduction in new homes".
