The English version of the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) No 1254/2014 supplementing Directive 2010/30/EU with regard to energy labelling of residential ventilation units, as published in the Official Journal of the EU on 11 July 2014.
According to the Directive 2010/30/EU, the Commission should adopt delegated acts as regards the labelling of energy-related products, representing significant potential for energy savings and presenting a wide disparity in performance levels although having an equivalent functionality; no other Union legislation or self-regulation is expected to achieve the policy objectives more quickly or at lesser expense than mandatory requirements.
The Commission analysed the technical, environmental and economic aspects of residential ventilation units and showed that the energy used by residential ventilation units accounts for a significant part of total household energy demand in the Union. Regardless of the energy efficiency improvements already achieved, the scope for further reducing the energy consumption of ventilation units is substantial. The study also confirmed a wide disparity in performance levels, and found no self-regulation or voluntary agreements which could achieve the policy objectives.
This Regulation establishes energy labelling requirements for residential ventilation units.
