Local measures foreseen in the framework of the Covenant of Mayors will need EU support and funding. The conference will therefore present and discuss the most relevant instruments at the disposal of the EU institutions: How do those instruments fit the needs of the cities? How can we improve them or propose new financial instruments suiting the requirements of the cities committed to tackle climate change mitigation?
The debates between national and local representatives should influence the support programmes and funding tools that the European Commission will propose in the coming years for sustainable energy actions managed by local actors.
