The recently adopted Energy & Climate Package sets ambitious targets. The building sector is a key area to look into as buildings are responsible for over 40% of our energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Buildings are on the one hand a big consumer of energy and have on the other hand a great potential for energy saving measures as well as for energy generation with renewable energy sources.
