BEX: The Building Exchange - 'Funding & Delivering Sustainable Communities'

The theme of BEX this year is Funding & Delivering Sustainable Communities. Its main purpose is to bring together the key decision-makers and practitioners from the built environment sector, to share their experiences and knowledge as to how to implement new energy regulations and maximise potential revenue from greater efficiency . The landscape and future of the construction and real estate management sectors have changed dramatically with the world’s waking up to the pressing need for energy efficiency. All sorts of related jobs have thus changed in scope, meaning a steep learning-curve for those involved, to avoid losing revenue, missing targets or breaching regulations. As the long-term picture has changed, so the short-term actions need to change now – but how? Doing your job well suddenly involves acquiring a whole new field of energy knowledge very quickly, so as not to lose out. With so much information around, knowing what is important and what is 'sales speak' can be very difficult. The prizes for those who make the right decisions will be great, and they will quickly stand out against the competition - but what are the right decisions? The aim of BEX is to make it easy for you. BEX will provide the 'green' answers, explaining clearly how to act today to safeguard and boost your career tomorrow in a sustainable world; BEX will interpret what is happening now with policy and regulation, and ask the people at the top direct questions so you have real information to base your decisions on. Not only this, but you will have your chance to have private meetings with anyone at the conference, arranged for you by BEX , where you can develop partnerships, working relationships, or push your agenda to the people you choose. The conference breaks down into:- Sessions: speakers include Steven Beckers (Art & Build architects) on ‘Cradle to Cradle’, Pirjo-Liisa Koskimaki (Head of Energy Efficiency, EU Commission), Adrian Joyce (DG, Architects Council of Europe), Cesar Esparza (CEO, Monterrey International Stadium), Jean-Paul Loozen (Head, Real Estate Industry, Deloitte), Nicholas Moy (Chairman, Gryphon Investment Bank), Patrick Brown (Ass. Director, British Property Federation), Andrea Nam (Water Protection Team, EU Commission), Agostino Renna (VP Energy Solutions EMEA, Johnson Controls)....for full list see http://www.bex2010.com/speakers.php Case-studies: these include the Empire State Building (reduced energy costs by 38%), City of Stockholm (European Green Capital 2010), Developing in the Shade of Renzo Piano’s Shard (sustainable renewal, London), Climate Smart House (Sweden)...for full details see http://www.bex2010.com/case_study.php Networking: book your own programme of private meetings with any of the BEX speakers or delegates (see here for options), attend the Welcome Dinner, attend the Gala Dinner, attend the BEX Exchange Round Table Lunch, go on the site visit...live, eat and drink with everyone at the conference for three days!
