Renewable Energy Accounts for 30% of the Total Electricity Generated in the UK The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) released a number of reports on the 22nd of February detailing the energy production of 2017 Q3. The report shows the steady growth of renewable energy in the United Kingdom.

In the coming decades one of the key technologies to be implemented in intelligent buildings will be LiFi, the transfer of data through light   Just imagine: you get back home one evening, unlocking your door with the torch light of your mobile. You sit down on your sofa, download a film 100 times faster than currently possible and enjoy the movie on a fully secure wireless connection. This is already possible in some smart buildings, and could be the norm in the future, thanks to LiFi – or Light Fidelity.

The UHI Project is implemented through the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The main target of this transnational project is the development of mitigation, risk prevention and management strategies to counteract the urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon. Mitigation strategies consist in the adoption of urban and land planning models that prevent the establishment of UHI. On the other hand, adaptation strategies aim at reducing the impact of UHI related phenomena, such as summer bioclimatic discomfort.

Decision Support System (DSS) is a software developed within the context of the UHI (Urban Heat Island) project, implemented through the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It is a simplified database management tool that can be used by an end user interested in the implementation of mitigation measures for counteracting the urban heat island phenomenon.

The Simplified Economic Evaluation Tool (CERtuS SE²T) has been developed under the CERtuS Project. It is a user-friendly and informative tool on financing issues, addressed principally to Municipalities but also to building owners that wish to implement a deep energy renovation on their buildings, in order for the latter to become nZEB. The CERtuS SE²T tool is used in the initial stages of a building retrofit project in order to evaluate the project's financial sustainability.

USmartConsumer project’s goal is to promote the use of smart meters throughout the European households by informing and involving the consumers on the innovative smart metering services. Smart metering services help the consumers to achieve energy savings and consequently assist the Member States in reducing peak energy loads.
