Energy efficiency technologies and materials

European researchers are developing a device that stores and uses solar energy to provide both hot water and mechanical ventilation for multifamily houses. Moreover, an app linked to the machine monitors the users’ energy consumption   Nowadays households wanting to switch to solar energy have to deal with variability over time. In addition, if they are part of a condominium, the ability to store solar energy in an apartment without taking up significant living space is a big issue.

Description: District Cooling and Heating:   The 7th edition of the International DHC + Summer School is organised in collaboration with the French consortium led by Efficacity and Les Mines ParisTech (with the support of Dalkia, ENGIE, Danfoss & Kamstrup). It will take place from 25 to 31 August 2019 in Paris and will bring together participants from all over the world for a full week of intensive training with key industry experts and academics.

Historic buildings are defining elements of city centres but also responsible for a large share of greenhouse gas emissions. In order to reduce their energy demand, it is important to improve envelopes’ thermal transmittance without damaging the historic integrity of their façades by applying interior insulation.   Thus, a detailed planning is needed to guarantee that case-specific variables are well considered. In this study, a holistic performance-based evaluation method is developed.
