The application of Building Information Modelling (BIM) is widely recognised as a solution to the efficient management of a project’s information over its entire life cycle.
Geospatial Media and Communications launched the GeoBIM Europe conference in 2014. Its aim is highlighting the critical role of geospatial technology in BIM processes within the European construction sector. It shows how aligning geospatial and BIM improves collaboration, efficiency and performance of a building/infrastructure throughout its lifecycle, right from planning and design, to construction, and finally the operational and maintenance phases.
GeoBIM Europe is the leading industry-outreach initiative, which serves as a platform for the geospatial community to interact with planners, architects, engineers, builders, building owners and operators, and discuss the potential and challenges of geospatial and BIM integration in Europe. This year’s edition will take place on 24 and 25 November in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Objectives of the 2016 edition of GeoBIM Europe:
- Provide a forum to exchange ideas among the Government Representatives, architects and engineers representatives and experts from the ICT and Geospatial Industry
- Advocate the adoption of an integrated Geospatial and BIM module supported by complementing ICT solutions for infrastructure development & maintenance policy measure
- Discuss state-of-the-art technology with respect to the construction and maintenance process of smart infrastructure
- Seed the development of innovative ideas for building and maintenance of modern infrastructure such as roads, highways, housing, railways, airports, sea-ports, etc.
