How to realize a regenerative building and operate them in a sustainable and regenerative way? This challenging question was the exiting theme of the third Training School of RESTORE. In this context, it has been organised 4 intensive days hosted by Eurac Research at NOI Techpark in Bolzano. This event took place at the Training School – Bolzano (Italy) on 11th -14th March 2019.

The new training programmes on deep energy retrofit developed by the Horizon 2020 project Fit-to-NZEB are uploaded and ready for use by any interested training institution.   This is the major outcome of the first year of the promising EU-financed project demonstration ambition to change the landscape in the vocational training and educational system as related to energy efficiency in the building sector in 7 focus countries – Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Ireland, Italy and Romania, and even beyond.

Project concept CraftEdu develops innovative qualification and training schemes for craftsmen and on-site workers in the field of energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources in buildings. It creates learning materials and paves the way for sustainable offering of educational courses on nearly zero-energy buildings (nZEB), targeting the establishing of a solid based for the practical implementation of the upcoming ambitious new building standards.

The courses are conducted along more than 20 innovative training programs, addressing topical issues from the Bulgarian and European construction practice.

Training of Photovoltaic Installers     The high photovoltaic market growth rates, further favoured by the EU supporting policies and the favourable national regulatory frameworks, may cause some concern to the PV industry due to the lack of adequately skilled workforce for PV installation and maintenance. Furthermore, the interested parties (manufacturers, developers, investors) seek skills certification and quality assurance in all phases of a PV installation (design, installation and maintenance).

Training courses for installers of small-scale renewable energy systems in buildings     The objective of the IEE Install+RES project was to establish training courses for the qualification of trainers and the certification of installers of renewable energy systems (biomass, solar, PV and heat pumps) in buildings. The target groups were installers (with working experience as plumbers, roofers or electricians) and trainers (as teachers, engineers and professors).
