A two days summer school will take place 30th and 31th of May 2019 in Cagliari powered by the PEGASUS project and supported by Interreg Mediterranean.

The overall objective of the conference is to introduce scholars of the subject, policy makers, and interested groups to cutting edge research that benefit society. It is also intended to initiate discussions among international scholars from multiple disciplines, on the current state of energy related research including impacts of energy use and conversion on critical resources such as water, or on climate change.

In the framework of the PV-ESTIA project, the performance of the proposed PV+storage Innovative Management Scheme will be evaluated under real-field conditions. REScoop MECISE is a Horizon 2020 PDA project that aims to mobilise citizens and municipalities in the transition to a more sustainable and decentralised energy system. With support from the EASME, a consortium of established energy cooperatives developed projects for renewable energy and energy efficiency. The project also set-up a financial facilitation service for energy communities and foster collaborations between energy cooperatives and local municipalities.

Political and business leaders from around the world have outlined the far-reaching geopolitical implications of an energy transformation driven by the rapid growth of renewable energy. A report recently launched by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) says that the geopolitical and socio-economic consequences of a new energy age may be as profound as those which accompanied the shift from biomass to fossil fuels two centuries ago.

In 2017, the share of energy from renewable sources in gross final consumption of energy, in the European Union (EU), reached 17.5%, up from 17.0% in 2016 and more than double the share in 2004 (8.5%), the first year for which the data are available.
The share of renewables in gross final consumption of energy is one of the headline indicators of the Europe 2020 strategy. The EU's target is to obtain 20% of energy in gross final consumption of energy from renewable sources by 2020 and at least 32% by 2030.

The Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has approved 3 orders that facilitate the commercialization of electricity generated from renewable energy sources by prosumers in facilities with a maximum installed capacity of 27 kW.
These orders provide the regulatory framework to ensure that end-consumers can be consumers and be paid for electricity supplied to the grid, ANRE said on its website.
