The World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) is delighted to announce its World Green Building Week 2018 campaign has been shortlisted for the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards 2019.   The #HomeGreenHome campaign which reached an estimated 155 million people worldwide in September 2018 is a finalist in the Environmental Awareness Campaign of the Year category.

Every year the Union and its agencies organise numerous initiatives to raise the attention on the problem and stimulate national and local governments, private and public companies and citizens to opt for sustainable mobility.

Every year the European Commission (Directorate-General for Energy and EASME) organises the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) – one of the biggest events dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe. The 2018 edition attracted more than 2500 participants. The theme for 2019 is “Shaping Europe’s energy future” and it will cover a series of activities with an EU-wide scope. EUSEW will take place during the third week of June and include the EUSEW Policy Conference in Brussels from 18 to 20 June.

Any organization with an ISO 50001-certified energy management system is invited to enter this global competition, now in its fourth year. Sponsored by the Energy Management Working Group (EMWG) of the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM), these annual awards highlight leadership and achievement in using energy management systems to accelerate progress toward organizational, national, and global climate goals.

On September 5, the city of Tampere was awarded a prize for its work in the STARDUST project to become carbon neutral by 2030. Organized by the Foundation Prospective & Innovation together with the European Commission and the China Centre for Urban Development, the awarding event took place during the Euro-China Green and Smart City Summit, which is part of the Smart City Expo China 2018 event held in Ningbo, China.
