The Horizon 2020 funded TESSe2b project (Thermal Energy Storage Systems for Energy Efficient Buildings) will enable the optimal use of renewable energy and provide one of the most advantageous solutions for correcting the mismatch that often occurs between the supply and demand of energy in residential buildings. The target of TESSe2b is to design, develop, validate and demonstrate a modular and low cost thermal storage technology based on solar collectors and highly efficient heat pumps for heating, cooling and domestic hot water (DHW) production.

Data centres are among the biggest electrical energy consumers. In the Renew IT project scientists from five countries examined how data centres could be supplied almost entirely with renewable energy. King’s Lodge, in the English county of Wiltshire, has 96 solar panels producing around 20,000 kilowatt hours of electricity a year. The school is one of 19 in the UK that joined a project which attracted 770-thousand-euros of crowdfunding   EU Green Week is urging us to think about the environment, as governments face pressure to boost renewable energy sources.
