Last July 2018, the amended Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) entered into force, with a transposition deadline on 10th March 2020. Member States now have less than a year to implement new provisions on energy efficiency in buildings and building renovation.  On this occasion, a workshop will be organised by EuroACE (the European Alliance of Companies for Energy Efficiency in Buildings), with the support of Knauf Insulation, VELUX, and the C4E Forum.

CoNZEBs identifies and assesses technology solution sets that lead to significant cost reductions of new Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings. The focus of the project is on multi-family houses. Close cooperation with housing associations allows for an intensive interaction with stakeholders and tenants. The project starts by setting baseline costs for conventional new buildings, currently available NZEBs and buildings that go beyond the NZEB level based on the experience of the consortium.

Historically, first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth conferences were completed successfully in Alanya/Antalya (2012), Antalya (2013), Kemer/Antalya (2015), Istanbul (2016), Sarajevo (2017), and Istanbul (2018). NERO develops and demonstrates technical solutions, which significantly reduce the costs of new nearly Zero-Energy Wooden Buildings and districts compared to the current situation.   On site and nearby renewable energy system solutions are studied in order to provide real addition of renewable energy production and to provide solutions, which are optimal on local grid and energy system level.

Already today buildings can be realised in the nearly zero and plus energy standard. These buildings achieve extremely low energy demands and low CO2 emissions and can be operated economically. For this reason, the motivation in the CRAVEzero project is not only based on the energy characteristics of buildings, but also on their life-cycle costs.

Cost optimal and nearly zero energy performance levels are principles initiated by the European Union’s (EU) Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, which was recast in 2010 and amended 2018. These will be major drivers in the construction sector in the next few years because all new buildings in the EU from 2021 onwards are expected to be nearly zero energy buildings (nZEB).
