Hotel Energy Solutions (HES) is a UNWTO-initiated project in collaboration with a team of United Nations and EU leading agencies in Tourism and Energy. The project delivers information, technical support & training to help Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the tourism and accommodation sector across the EU 27 to increase their energy efficiency and renewable energy usage.
The project seeks to bridge the existent gap between available Energy Efficiency/Renewable Energy technologies and their actual use in SMEs.
After three years of testing and research, HES has the pleasure to introduce you to its principal output, an innovative online application, the "Hotel Energy Solutions E-toolkit" which provides hoteliers with a report assessing their current energy use and recommends appropriate renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies along with a carbon footprint calculator and a return on investment calculator. In addition, an educative section called "Energy School" deepens knowledge on sustainable practices and technologies available, along with a variety of informative publications and communication materials to sensitize guests and staff.
