UK: New Building Regulations 'fast approaching'

New Building Regulations will be imposed from October 1st and people in the housing industry will be required to get to grips with the changes in the next month. Many of the changes centre on improved energy efficiency, ensuring that all new builds or renovation work adheres to stringent new environmental goals. They are an upgrade of the 2006 energy efficiency requirements.
U values, the measurement of the heat flow through a square metre of a roof, wall, glazing or another building element, have been raised to be 25 per cent more efficient, the Daily Telegraph explained.

For new builds, the news provider noted that the Dwelling Emission Rates, or the actual carbon emission rates, must be 25 per cent better than the Target Emission Rates, the carbon emissions for a series of model dwellings.

In addition, these must be 44 per cent better in 2013.

According to Nick Jones of Inbuilt, there are a number of layout changes to the regulations that make the document easier to use and understand, he told 24Dash.com.
