Electrical appliances like TVs and computers left on standby are costing the UK up to £1.3 billion a year in unnecessary electricity costs, according to the Energy Saving Trust.
The revelation comes from a major new study by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and the Energy Saving Trust, ´Powering the Nation – household electricity-using habits revealed¨, which was published 26, June , 2012.
The first-of-its-kind study measuring and monitoring real-time electricity usage in real indicates that the UK as a nation uses more energy than thought.
