The Federal German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety has handed over the awards to the winners of the climate protection competition "Klima& Co" (climate and co): 50,000 Euro for the Goethegymnasium in Weimar, that has developed the best climate protection ideas for the school, 30,000 Euro for the Nelly Pütz Berufskolleg from Düren and 20,000 Euro for the Uhland-Gymnasium from Tübingen. Additional ten schools received each 10,000 Euro from the fund of the Climate Protection Initiative of the ministry.
Klima & Co is an Initiative of the German BP and the publishing company Zeitbild under the patronage of Ministry for the Environment. For the second time after 2008 pupils from numerous schools in Germany have developed ideas for energy saving and CO2 emission reduction together with their teachers. The multi-stage award procedure included the presentation of the concepts to a jury of experts from the Öko-Institut, the BUND and a representation of German pupils.
