In Build Up we want that everyone feels involved. That is what the Topic of the Month is for, so all the community can contribute with articles, events and much more under the same topic. 

 

These months of July and August our topic is ‘Financing energy efficiency of buildings’.

The European Commission has welcomed the publication of the three new important reports by the Technical Expert Group (TEG) on sustainable finance, including key recommendations on the types of economic activities that can make a real contribution to climate change mitigation or adaptation (see official press release).

Manual of mechanisms and business models for energy efficiency. This manual was conducted by BASE (Basel Agency for Sustainable Energy), as part of the project “Pilot Asia-Pacific Climate Technology Network and Finance Centre” (CTNFC).CTNFC is an initiative of UN Environment and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

theodore.jpgThermomodernization of Nursery in Chmielnik. This full energy renovation of a public building is certainly beneficial in the local context, and in Poland where coal is still widely used for heating, it is an important good practice with a lighthouse effect. The main beneficiaries of the project are children with their parents.

 

 

 

theodore.jpgWorld's tallest Passive House: high-rise Bolueta (Bilbao-Spain). The developers and architects of this project have set very high goals. With the Bolueta building, they wanted to set a new Passive House record and at the same time ensure the quality of the building through certification. Bolueta is now the tallest Passive House building in the world.

The QUEST Project. The main goal of QUEST is to promote investments in Sustainability and Energy Efficiency by identifying and empirically risk-grading factors that influence performance. QUEST will develop a simple toolkit to evaluate these investments. It may be easily applied to all types of Sustainability and Energy Efficiency investments and covers project design-construction-operation risks.

CitizEE H2020 Project Launched: Scaling up Public Sustainable Investments via Citizen Financing Schemes. CitizEE is a new Coordiantion and Support Action at European level, funded under the Horizon 2020 programme. The project has been launched in May 2019, with a kick-off meeting held by WIP Renewable Energies in its facilities in Munich (Germany), on May 7th-8th.

As part of the NOVICE project, Joule Assets Europe conducted a research study measuring the appeal and financial viability of the NOVICE dual revenue stream Energy Performance Contract (EPC), which looks to combine Energy Efficiency (EE) and Demand Response (DR).At the outset, the NOVICE consortium hypothesized that combining DR and ER in a single contract—the NOVICE dual revenue stream EPC
