My experience is in the initiation, coordination and execution of national and international (EU, IEA) research projects and associated standardisation activities (CEN, ISO) in the field of energy consumption and indoor climate in residential and office buildings (energy and comfort).

Also special interest in passive solar energy and thermal-optical properties of windows, solar shading systems and facades and in particular on energy performance and the relation with building regulations, nationally and internationally.

Examples:

Leader of European projects such as: IEA ECBCS Annex 12, EU WIS, EU REVIS, EU WinDat,  EU CENSE.

Key roles in European and IEA projects such as: EU PASLINK, EU ENPER, IEA SHC Tasks 10, 18, 27, EU Buildings Platform.

Responsible for national overall energy performance calculation procedures (currently NEN 7120, previously NEN 5128, since 1995) of The Netherlands

Co-convenor of ISO/TC 163/WG 4 (joint WG with TC 205) on energy performance of buildings using the holistic approach.

Co-convenor of CEN/TC 371/WG 1 on the preparation of EPBD standards under mandate M/480 - Basic principles and over-arching standard.

Convenor of CEN/TC 89/AHG on the preparation of EPBD standards under mandate M/480 - Thermal performance of buildings and building components.

Active in national (NEN) and international (CEN, ISO) standardization committees on energy performance and on thermal and solar properties of facades and windows.
