EAE's Polish member association Stowarzyszenie na Rzecz Systemów Ociepleń (SSO) is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2018 with its 5th ETICS International Conference. The variety of topics covers aspects of product assessments, inspections, and latest information on technical developments related to External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS). Speakers represent different parties involved in the construction process, such as research and test institutes, associations, supervisors. Speakers from different EU Member States will have lectures.

Case study buildings should either have planned energy renovations or have already undergone renovations. On Tuesday 19 December 2017, the Estonian presidency reached a provisional agreement with the European Parliament on a revised directive on the energy performance of buildings. The outcome of the trilogue will be presented to EU ambassadors on December 20, with the final analysis and approval of the agreement expected to take place at the beginning of 2018.

Efficiency measures at the building envelope and the building services systems decrease the operational costs of buildings. But reduced costs can lead to changes in the behaviour of the building users. They consume more energy and parts of the originally planned energy savings are used-up. The so-called “rebound effect” describes the difference between the theoretically expected savings and the savings achieved in reality. The rebound effect can be indicated as percentage of the deviation from the expected savings.
