Effective daylighting design is both an art and a science. The architect, following basic daylighting design principles, creates the daylighting system along with the design of the building, whether intentionally or not.
Optimizing the daylighting design’s performance requires analysis using computer or physical models to accurately determine if the design criteria for daylight has been met. Working together in an interactive fashion as the design progresses, the architect and daylighting analyst can create a building which performs as well as it looks.
