Passive and hybrid downdraught cooling in buildings and software for design

The paper describes the principles of passive and hybrid downdraught cooling (PHDC) as an alternative to conventional air conditioning for new and existing buildings. It gives results of the monitoring of a PHDC with misting towers (a mist of water is sprayed into the air stream that cools air, the cooled air circulates in the building under the effect of gravity) that has been installed in a research centre in India.
