European project on consumer response toenergy labels in buildings - Country specific factors

Improving Dwellings by Enhancing Actions on Labelling for the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (IDEAL EPBD) is a project co-funded by the European Union under the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme. It runs from 2008 until 2011 and has project partners in ten European Union (EU) countries: Denmark, Germany, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Portugal, Bulgaria, Latvia and Czech Republic . The project aims to monitor and evaluate consumers’ response to the energy labelling of domestic dwellings. Witin the IDEAL EPBD project, a part of the work consists in gathering information on the current housing stock in the participating countries, the barriers to energy saving and the policy measures set up to overcome these barriers. In addition, an estimate of energy saving potential has been calculated based on the housing stock information. This reports gives the results of this work.
