Alternative cooling calculation methods: Comparative simulations

Summer comfort assessment is a very complex issue and it is not evident that the existing calculation methods and tools developed in the context of the regulatory procedures have the adequate level of assumptions if passive cooling concepts and strategies are to be promoted. This report addressed topics such as solar heat gains attenuation, night cooling dissipation, assessment of risk of overheating or zoning. It proves that some common assumptions of the calculation methods can become a barrier to the penetration of passive cooling in buildings.
