Renewed tool for building managers and facilities managers

NL Agency has recently launched a new version of the Energy Explorer Utility buildings (EBVU). This version 3.0 has quickly made clear what cost savings energy efficiency measures in commercial construction could bring. This tool also gives an indication of the current energy label and the possible label after the adoption of proposed measures. This is useful, because since 2008 it is required in the Netherlands to have an energy label when a building is sold or rented.

More and more building owners and managers are aware that energy savings can lead to significant cost savings. The EBVU is a handy tool that can help. The tool  gives a quick indication of the energy consumption of a building, the current energy label and the label with energy saving measures that can be achieved. In addition, the EBVU insight into the investment, the annual savings on energy costs and payback. The environmental impact is calculated by the tool.

The EBVU is a simple Excel program, which is free and can be used independently and is based on several reference buildings in commercial construction. In the new version of the tool there are different types of buildings (care and education) added. .

The instrument is easy. The user selects an example of a building and a specific building function and selects a number of physical building characteristics. The tool then calculates the situation based on the input and a large number of baselines. These baselines are calculated according to the EPA U calculation.

Download the Energy Explorer. Choose from a variety of commercial building (hotel, office, warehouse, supermarket, small shop, cafe / restaurant) and a variant for social building  (education, health care, community center, group practice).
