BIMprove – Improving Building Information Modelling by realtime Tracing of Construction Processes is a European project launched at the beginning of September 2020 by an outstanding consortium made up of partners from all over Europe.
This joint initiative is meant to develop a dynamic thread system for construction sites to boost productivity thanks to the employment of digital twin technology and finally lead the European construction industry into the age of digitalization.
In fact, it is fundamental that the European Union improves its construction industry to reach the ambitious EU green deal goals of 2050.
For this reason, the BIMprove team is investing effort in developing a solution to fast-track productivity, cut costs and improve worker safety, allowing enterprises in this sector to optimize their performance and prepare to create the Europe of tomorrow.
- The project will be showcased in 3 real-world pilot use cases over the length of 3 years, meant to test and achieve:
- Better scheduling forecast by 20%
- Better allocation of resources and optimization of equipment usage
- Increase of construction site safety
- 20% reduction of costs in construction projects
The consortium is well-equipped with expertise and experience both from the research domain and the industry and presents itself as a diverse and dynamic group of multiple European nationalities: Norway (SINTEF, Catenda AS, AF Gruppen), Spain (AUSTRALO, Vias y Construcciones SA, Robotnik Automation AGVs), Germany (Fraunhofer IAO, DIN German Institute for Standardization, University of Stuttgart IAT), Switzerland (Zurich University of Applied Sciences, HRS Real Estate AG) and Finland (VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland).
The project receives funding by the European commission in the frame of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement n° 958450.
