cost optimal

As for the last year, the Sustainable Places Conference (Cagliari, 5-7 June 2019) was the occasion for a working sessions of the H2020 project dealing with deep renovation of buildings.   This year, the topic of discussion was “Exploitation of Business Models for Deep Renovation”, as a key issue for ensuring the future implementation of the project results. The involved projects presented their approaches on exploitations in order to highlight potential synergies and strengths to be shared.

CoNZEBs identifies and assesses technology solution sets that lead to significant cost reductions of new Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings. The focus of the project is on multi-family houses. Close cooperation with housing associations allows for an intensive interaction with stakeholders and tenants. The project starts by setting baseline costs for conventional new buildings, currently available NZEBs and buildings that go beyond the NZEB level based on the experience of the consortium.

A large part of the stock of Italian educational buildings have undertaken energy retrofit interventions, thanks to European funds allocated by complex technical-administrative calls. In these projects, the suggested retrofit strategies are often selected based on the common best practices (considering average energy savings) but are not supported by proper energy investigations.

The Horizon 2020 co-funded project CRAVEzero (Cost Reduction and market Acceleration for Viable nearly zero-Energy buildings) focuses on proven and new approaches to cost reduction of Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEBs) at all stages of the life cycle. The main goal is to identify and eliminate the extra-costs for NZEBs related to processes, technologies, building operation, and to promote innovative business models taking into account the cost-effectiveness for all the stakeholders.

The Horizon 2020 funded project AZEB (Affordable Zero Energy Buildings) aims to achieve significant construction and lifecycle cost reductions of new NZEB’s through integral process optimisation in all construction phases. Optimising construction processes to fully integrate available solutions in the areas of process, technology and contracting is seen as the largest potential in lifecycle cost reduction. The project will create a common methodology for cost effective NZEB.   The main steps of the AZEB project are to:
