The purpose of the calculator is to build an energy pathway that hits the 80% CO2 emission reduction target at the top of the page. As you get closer to achieving this the arrow will move to the right.   The calculator models what is thought to be physically and technically possible in forty-two different sectors. It is based on scientific and engineering data and was built in collaboration with a wide range of organisations from inside and outside of government.

In Bulgaria, around 1,400 buildings are being renovated and retrofitted since 2017 according to the Bulgarian Construction Chamber (BCC) as nearly 70% of the building stock was built before 1979.   The successful improvement of building performance and the adoption of renewable energy are especially challenging due to the skills shortage in the Bulgarian construction sector – a sector which accounts for 14.4% of Bulgarian GDP.

Important information – OB-20 & Annex 79 to be held online   The IEA Secretariat have given notice that all face-to-face meetings before June are to be changed to an online format, due to the perceived risks of coronavirus. The University of Southampton plan to host the virtual events on the dates and times currently scheduled, and hope to allow these to take place no differently than if they were in-person (with plenaries, break-out sessions, etc.).
