Under the Horizon 2020 programme call ‘Decarbonisation of the EU building stock – innovative approaches and affordable solutions changing the market for building renovation’, the European Commission looked for innovative and affordable solutions for the decarbonisation of buildings in the EU, accelerating the energy renovations of buildings all around Europe.

There is an intrinsic understanding that 'good architecture' defines the long-term functionality and resilience of buildings and that it has a strong bearing on building performance. However, it is not considered ‘measurable’ and it rarely features as a quantifiable value driver in investment cycles and legislation. This survey aims at investigating how the value of architectural solutions for better building performance is being taught in European Universities to architectural students.

This Webinar, organised by the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE) and in collaboration with the BUILD UP team, is focused on teaching you all about Level(s), the new EU tool that provides a common EU approach to the assessment of environmental performance in the built environment.
The audience is aimed specifically at architects and all professionals in the building environment, who are interested in sustainable construction. There will be an explanation on how you can participate in future testing of Level(s).

On the evening, the Ceremony and Walking dinner at the Palais des Beaux Arts were opened by Selma Harrington, President of the ACE and addressed by a number of international speakers, including Rosen Plevneliev, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works in Bulgaria; Louise Cox, President of the International Union of Architects; Andrey Bokov, President of the Union of Architects of Russia, and Tom Vonier on behalf of Georg Miller, President of the Architects Institute of America.

It showcases 32 of the best examples of sustainable architecture in Europe. Open until the 3rd of December, it will subsequently travel across Europe displaying the potential and the ingenuity of the architects’ approach to sustainability. The projects are classified in eight different themes that emphasise their quality and features.
