The aim of this 4-year project is to show that it is possible to transform nearly-zero energy buildings into positive energy buildings (PEBs). This means that a building which is producing the majority of the renewable energy it uses itself, after refurbishment, will be producing more energy than it actually needs. The technologies will be tested in 4 climatic zones, EnergyVille/VITO investigates the scale-up of buildings into PEBs and is involved in the Belgian demo set up together with Cordium, the social housing company in Hasselt.

Procredit Bank Macedonia will on-lend funds to local households, housing associations and service providers planning to invest in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, the EBRD said on its website.   Possible investments will include green technologies such as boilers, windows and lighting. The building stock in North Macedonia is in urgent need of refurbishment, and the introduction of insulation, for example, is expected to lower costs and improve comfort.

Cities from across Europe met on 9 October in ICLEI Member Copenhagen (Denmark) to liaise with market actors in the construction supply chain regarding their targets and plans to achieve clean and healthy construction. Representatives from ICLEI Members – and Procura+ Participants – Copenhagen, Oslo (Norway), Helsinki (Finland), Budapest (Hungary) and Brussels (Belgium), as well as from ICLEI Member Lisbon (Portugal) and other cities discussed their procurement ambitions for zero-emission construction sites and sustainable building materials.
