Mercado del Val is an iron market whose construction was completed in 1882 and it is located within the old town of Valladolid, Spain, being currently the oldest preserved market in the city. In 2013, the market was fully renovated recovering a late 19th century representative building of an architecture and commercial activity from that period, being respectful with its essence, but transforming it into an innovative building that meets the potentialities and commercial needs of the 21st century.   AIM OF RETROFIT

The perception of risk surrounding building renovation operations is an important driver in most of the energy efficiency related financing operations. However, investment decisions in building renovation are still largely based on empirical methods which rely solely on company business specific experiences.   The investment market is calling for solid knowledge-based evaluation methods to perform technical/ financial due-diligence and evaluate financial operations related to energy-efficient buildings.

In Munich's Prinz-Eugen-Park district, NEST 2020 realized the residential complex with 61 condominiums, community space and underground parking. The concept combines passive house standard and wooden construction with solar power and battery storage for local use of renewable energy. Different floor plan types and sizes, community spaces and a sustainable mobility concept create a diverse offering for residents. Two 4-story point buildings and five residential blocks house townhouses and maisonette units in addition to traditional multi-story apartments.

Friday 11th June 2021, 14:00-16:30 CET   Extensive research studies in many countries have found gaps between the design intent and real-world operation of buildings, which often lead to much higher energy use in practice than was estimated at design stage. While the reasons for such performance gaps are varied and complex, IEA Energy in Buildings and Communities (EBC) research projects have recently been making progress in resolving them.

The 2020 Building Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction speaks about global shares of 35% and 38% of the final energy and the emissions, respectively, for the building sector in 2019.
