With the guiding theme "Future Buildings and Districts - Energy Efficiency from Nano to Urban Scale", the international scientific conference CISBAT 2017 will take place from 6 to 8 September 2017 in Lausanne, Switzerland, offering a platform for dialogue and presentations focused on energy efficient building and urban district design.

How much does it contribute to a system shift towards more prosperity, legitimacy and leadership on sustainable energy? On 1 December 2016, the fourth annual C40 Cities Award Ceremony took place in Mexico City. The 2016 C40 Cities Awards aimed to share highly replicable ‘best practices’ across cities and draw attention to outstanding performances that have achieved a high level of environmental success in a challenging context. The ceremony was held on the sidelines of  C40 Mayors Summit.

Some examples in Europe show that cities running their own energy company can lower the energy bill for citizens   Across Europe, town and city councils are becoming increasingly interested in energy decentralisation, i.e. in producing power closer to where it is consumed.   Those municipalities that have already experienced this say the model is one of the best ways of fighting pollution and reducing energy costs for citizens. Heidelberg is one such city in Germany, with its long-running energy company.

InSmart aims to develop a complete "smart" methodology for achieving an integrated energy planning at a city level. The method takes into account energy efficiency improvement measures in public and private buildings, transport within the city, local energy production, and the energy footprint of waste management and water. The pilot application of the method was done during the project in four cities Trikala in Greece, Cesena in Italy, Evora in Portugal and Nottingham in UK.

  Celzijusa -to je financiran od strane EU projekt "pametnog grada", koji pokazuje, kako gradovi mogu uštedjeti energiju i stvoriti više samodostatan i energetskog gospodarstva kroz uvođenje inteligentnih daljinskog grijanja i hlađenja (ЦТС) sustava. Kao vodeći partner Göteborg surađuje s London, Genova, Rotterdam i Köln, za postizanje ciljeva projekta. U okviru tih napora konzorcij Celzija objedinjuje savršenstvo od 20 ključnih partnera u lancu vrijednosti: gradova, industrijskih poduzeća i vodećih sveučilišta.
