The Commission for a Sustainable London 2012 has published its annual review on meeting the sustainability standards set at the time of the bid. In their report "Swimming upstream - Sustainability in challenging times?" they conclude that the goals of sustainability including the energy efficiency of the Olympic buildings and their energy supply can still be realised according to the original plan. The aim was to minimise the environmental footprint and carbon emissions of the Games and legacy development, notably by optimising energy efficiency, energy demand and use of low carbon and renewable energy sources. This shall be achieved by application of the BREEAM Excellent standard for all venues and by providing an energy centre based on highly efficient trigeneration to provide electricity, heat and cooling to the Olympic Park. The plan is to supplement this by a wind turbine at the north end of the park.
